In January 2011, the City Commission appointed David Dillner to serve the City of Abilene as the thirteenth City Manager in the City's history. David earned a bachelor's degree in history from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. Following his undergraduate studies, David when on to earn a master's degree from the University of Kansas in Public Administration. The University of Kansas is nationally ranked as the premier academic institution for city management studies.
During his studies at the University of Kansas, David interned for the City Manager of the City of Ottawa, Kansas. He was then selected to participate in the International City/County Managers Association's Local Government Management Fellowship Program with the City of Winchester, Virginia. While in Winchester, Virginia, David worked under the City Manager as an Assistant to the City Manager. David was then appointed to serve as the first City Administrator for the City of Edgerton, Kansas.
David is a member of the International City/County Managers Association, the Kansas Association of City/County Managers, Rotary International, the Knights of Columbus, and the National Eagle Scout Association.
David is married to Jennifer Dillner who is serving as a Special Education Teacher for the Chapman Middle School. David and Jennifer have three boys named Thomas, Michael and Ethan.
