[ARCHIVED] Street light repairs and Parking space closings

Over the next several weeks, the street lights on N. Buckeye, from the Union Pacific tracks, north to North 4th Street will be removed and replaced. This project, directed by Westar will involve J-K Contracting and will have assistance from City of Abilene Public Works personnel. The first phase will take place Wednesday, August 15. Public Works staff will be breaking and removing concrete sidewalk sections. Plans are to remove two sections on each side of the street in the 300 block of N. Buckeye, near the existing street lights, between 7:00 am and 10:30 am Wednesday morning. During this time equipment will be at these sites and several parking places will blocked. The crew will then move to the 200 block of Buckeye. The parking spaces on the east side near the post office will be blocked temporarily. City Public Works personnel will do their best to minimize the closure time of the parking.

More announcements will follow as other phases of the project develop.
