Over the next several weeks, the street lights on N. Buckeye, from the Union Pacific tracks, north to North 4th Street will be removed and replaced. This project, directed by Westar will involve J-K Contracting and will have assistance from City of Abilene Public Works personnel. As this work progresses there will be times when the contractor’s equipment will be blocking some parking spaces as they install new underground wire. Eventually Westar trucks will be in the area setting the new street lights and City personnel will be replacing the sidewalk sections. Although efforts will be made to minimize the times when parking is blocked, there will be times when it will be inconvenient for business owners and their patrons. If there are any major changes we will do our best to keep you informed.
