APAC Kansas, Inc of Salina, along with their subcontractor, Bars Construction will be performing street improvements for the City of Abilene, starting this week. The work will consist of asphalt milling and overlay as well as some concrete valley gutter and curb repairs. Plans are for crews to be working in the 1000 block of N. Brown, adjacent to the Memorial Hospital and at the intersection of NE 11th and Brown, Tuesday, October 2. Starting at this time for 7-10 working days, the north side of the 11th and Brown intersection will be closed to traffic for concrete replacement. The gutter adjacent to the rear parking lot of the hospital off Brown Street will also undergo replacement at the same time. Plans are for one of the two parking lot driveways to remain open during the project.
Work will also be performed on SW 3rd Street from Cedar, west to Elm Street as well. Some select curb repairs will be performed over the next two weeks but should not require any street closures at this time.
