Following an exhaustive search with more than fifty applicants, Interim Abilene Parks and Recreation Director Kellee Timbrook was named as the new Director.
“We are very fortunate to have someone who has been with the department for fifteen years, first starting in programming as a Recreation Specialist and then moving to the Recreation Supervisor position five years ago,” said Jane Foltz, Abilene City Manager. “I look forward to Kellee’s leadership as she works to shape the future of Parks and Recreation in the City of Abilene.”
Timbrook received her bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University. Before joining the City of Abilene, Timbrook spent her early career working in the recreation and leisure field in South Carolina and Scottsdale, Arizona.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve as Director at Abilene Parks and Recreation. I have seen this department grow over the last 15 years and want it to continue to grow,” said Kellee Timbrook, Abilene Parks and Recreation Director. “We have so much offer here in Abilene and it is our job to provide places and programs that all ages can enjoy, interact, and be a part of something. I look forward to continuing that and bringing in new programs, updating facilities, and offering new opportunities for our community.”
