Our employee spotlight this week is Corey Jones, Park Department Supervisor. Cory has been with Parks and Recreation since December 2013 and oversees the care of all city parks, the swimming pool, ball fields, and building and grounds maintenance.
When asked what he enjoys about his job, he said, “I get to be outside when the weather is nice, and I work with great people.”
Fun Facts about Corey:
- He grew up on a farm north of Chapman, KS.
- He is a graduate of Chapman High School and Flint Hills Technical College.
- He and his wife, Amy, (of 25 years) have 3 children ages 20, 18 and 13. They also have many cats (too many, according to Corey) and a lab named Izzy Belle.
- The farthest he has traveled is to Hawaii, and would love to go back to the Bahamas…or anywhere with white-sand beaches!
- In his free time, he likes to work on the farm, care for his cows, and help his kids with 4H projects.
Thank you, Corey, for all you do to enhance the quality of life for our community!
