Candidate Filing Information
Individuals interested in running for a position on the City Commission may file as a candidate at the Dickinson County Clerk’s Office, located at 109 E. First Street, during regular business hours:
🕒 Filing Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
📅 Filing Deadline:
12:00 p.m. on June 2, 2025
About the City Commission
The Abilene City Commission plays a critical role in local governance. Responsibilities include:
- Enacting ordinances and resolutions
- Appointing members to serve on advisory boards and commissions
- Reviewing and approving the annual city budget, including setting the tax rate
- Establishing municipal fees and utility rates
Serving on the City Commission is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth and well-being of the Abilene community.
