Abilene Police Department 2024 Highlights & Accomplishments
APD responded to 6,324 calls for services during 2023, an increase from 6,052 in 2023.
There were a total of sixteen (16) violent crimes*, which is a decrease from twenty-two (22) in 2023, and nineteen (19) in 2022.
There were a total of 85 property crimes**, which is a decrease from 88 in 2023.
APD conducted 2,008 traffic stops in 2024, an increase from 1,878 in 2023.
There were a total of 297 arrests conducted by APD.
Officer Patrick Glasgow department in February and graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in July.
Assistant Chief Wilkins completed Kansas University's Certified Public Manager program in December.
Court Administrator Kelsey Briand completed the Leadership Dickinson County in November.
Detective Kevin Landers was elected as a Board Member for the Kansas Child First organization.
Officer Grant Pratt and Officer Chuck Huen were recognized by Senator Roger Marshall for their work in recovering an abducted child from Minnesota.
The department's accreditation team completed policy revision and moved into the file building phase.
*Crimes constituting violent crimes: Murder, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault/Battery
** Crimes constituting property crimes: Burglary, Theft, Motor Vehicle Theft and Arson
